The Organic Area Increases in Provence

In 2018, the fungal disease downy mildew caused major problems in the vineyards of Provence because spring and early summer were very rainy and the Mistral wind was less frequent than usual. After all, there is a risk that some vine growers will give up the organic farming method and fight the mildew with systemic preparations. Pleasing enough, the development is clearly the opposite.

In 2017, 21% of Provence vineyard area was certified organic or undergoing conversion (ref. The Wines of Provence – Tricolour book) which was twice as much as the average for the whole of France. For 2018, the share has increased to as much as 27% while the average for France has increased to 12%, well done!
